Marco Zanuso and Richard Sapper
Lambda Chair
1959
Italy
With the intention of creating a chair for mass production, Zanuso and Sapper explored various materials and technology to arrive at this form. While the chair is sturdy and thin, it is constructed from ten stamped sheets of metal and required hand-assembly, therefore mass production was never realized. This chair is in the permanent collection of MOMA.
